NEW! Murphy Publishes Book
Cuthbert native, Kuanita E. Murphy has published a book entitled, The History of the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church: From the Brush Arbor to the Sanctuary.
The book title was the subject of Murphy’s Master’s thesis (VSU, ’04) and includes highlights of recent information of the Church’s history, cemetery and former pastor listing, in addition to various cultural and traditional aspects.
The publishing of this book commemorates the 176th Anniversary of the historic African American Church that will be observed Sunday, June 20, 2010 at 2pm. Rev. Stephanie Walton will be guest minister. Rev. David Hamm, Jr. is the Pastor.

Murphy Accepted in 2010 Leadership Georgia Program
Artist, Kuanita Murphy, has been named to the 2010 Leadership Georgia Program.
The LEADERSHIP GEORGIA program is an educational experience rather than a program of advocacy and deals with issues confronting the state of Georgia.
Leadership Georgia stands apart as one of the nation's oldest and most successful leadership-training programs for young business, civic and community leaders with the desire and potential to work together for a better Georgia. Its primary purpose is to identify, train, and inspire a network of emerging young leaders, whose ages typically range from 25 to 45 years old.
Affiliated with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the organization has fielded numerous highly influential state and national leaders. Among the ranks of Leadership Georgia alumni there are leaders in business, not-for-profit organizations, and elected officials including U.S. Senators, U.S. Congressmen, State Legislators, and a Georgia Secretary of State.
Leadership Georgia is a non-partisan organization and is not affiliated with any particular political party or ideology. Leadership Georgia seeks to find and develop a geographically, occupationally and ethnically diverse leadership across Georgia - without regard to political, social, religious or ethnic backgrounds.9/30/2009

Murphy Designs Ornament for White House
Artist Kuanita Murphy was selected by Congressman Sanford Bishop, Jr. to design a Christmas ornament in his behalf that will hang on this year's Christmas Tree at The White House.
This event is sponsored by First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush and the first of many holiday events that will be held at The White House this Holiday Season.
An Artists' Reception was held on Tuesday, December 2nd at The White House in Washington, D.C.

Murphy Exhibits at Georgia Family Connection Conference in Athens
Murphy exhibited at the Georgia Family Connection Conference held in Athens, GA October 24-26. Murphy, a Family Connection Coordinator for the past eight years, has been a strong supporter of the 159 county state-wide organization.
Murphy donated an oil pastel print as one of the grand door prizes for the event.

Murphy to Exhibit at Andrew College
Artist, Kuanita Murphy will exhibit at Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA November 2-December 2, 2006. Her solo exhibit is entitled, "I can remember when..."
A reception will be held on November 2nd from 4PM-5:30PM on the first floor of the Old Main Building and is free to the community. The exhibit will be available for view Monday-Friday from 8AM-6PM.

Murphy receives Congressional Award
On March 30, 2006, Kuanita Murphy received a Congressional Certificate of Service from U.S. Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr.
Murphy was recognized for her outstanding community service at the Annual Banquet of the Randolph County Family Connection, Inc., where she currently serves as the Coordinator of the organization. The award was presented by Mr. Kenneth Cutts, a Field Representative for Congressman Bishop.

Murphy Exhibits at Tarrer Inn
Artist, Kuanita Murphy, exhibited at the elegant and historic Tarrer Inn in Colquitt, Georgia from February 3rd through March 31st, 2006. Colquitt, Georgia is the home of the nationally acclaimed play “Swamp Gravy”. The exhibit included a collection of both new and old works. The works received a positive response from local natives and tourist alike.

Murphy in 2006 Calendar
The “Pumpkin Town Picnic” painting was published in a “2006 Celebrating African American Art Calendar.” The calendar was published by Comda Calendars. Murphy’s work was displayed among various other artists including Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, and Faith Ringgold.
“I am very honored to have one of my works displayed among such giants in the art world. I am truly humbled by the opportunity," stated Murphy.
